In 2009, at the age of 24, Sam Marks moved from the USA to the UK and founded SKYCIG, a smoking cessation company. What began as a bootstrapped venture out of a rental car grew into Europe’s market leader in just four years. In 2013, SKYCIG was acquired by Lorillard Tobacco (NYSE: LO) and rebranded as Blu.
Sam has since continued his entrepreneurial journey, most recently founding Coworker.com, which was successfully acquired by IWG PLC in 2021. Alongside his work in startups, Sam is also an early-stage investor, driven by a deep fascination with emerging asset classes and innovative financial opportunities. This led him to co-found the podcast Invest Like a Boss.
Sam’s travels have taken him to over 100 countries, where he has lived off passive income, volunteered, and learned languages. In 2025, inspired by eastern spiritual traditions, Sam founded the Spirit Bright Foundation, a philanthropic organization supporting projects in education, animal welfare, and humanitarian relief.
